Description

The story of Rumpelstiltskin (as retold by me, you don't have to read if you dont want to :D )

There was this peasant who had pretty much nothing going for him, except he had a very pretty daughter. He somehow gets to see the king and everyone's talking about their gorgeous daughters and suddenly his doesn't seem so pretty anymore, so he decides to up the anti.
"My daughter can weave gold from straw!"
Well, the king being the greedy type, as all kings are, thinks this is pretty cool. so he asks to "see" her. When she gets there, he locks her in a room full of straw and tells her to weave it all in one night of he's going to kill her. Now this is kind of ambitious, because who can weave that much anything in one night? So the girl does what any sensible girl would do, she sits down, puts her face in her hands, and cries.
Well, this little man somehow hears her and pops into the room.
"What's wrong sweetie?"
Well, she has nothing better to do, so she tells her life story to this little man.
"well, i can weave it for you, if you gimme that pretty necklace you got"
seeing this as a fair trade, she gives him the neclace, and he weaves the whole thing in pretty much an instant, then disappears.
Well, the king comes back in the morning and sees all of this, and instead of shitting his pants because he's locked up a witch, he locks her up in a bigger room with more straw, using the same threat as the night before.
so what does she do? cries again.
The little man comes in and the same thing happens, this time though, she gives him a ring she has in return.
The king sees the gold again, and this time instead of a threat to kill her, he promises to make her his wife and the queen if she makes even MORE straw into gold.
When he leaves, she doesnt even need to cry, cuz the little man is already there. This time, he doesnt ask for anything material, instead he asks for her first child. seeing as queendom is obviously more important than your baby, she accepts.

after these three nights, i guess the king is too busy asking her to make him sammiches to ask for more gold

years pass and she forgets about the little man that saved her life by doing something impossible...
and has a baby
so he returns
when he asks for the baby, she does what any sensible mom would do, breaks down and cries... again
well he takes pity on her and tells her if she can guess his name in 3 days, she can keep the baby
during these three days, her and the king never fight about how she lied to him or how she promised their kid away or anything, he completely understands
long story short, on the third day someone tells her he found a little man dancing and singing that his name was Rumpelstiltskin and she's overjoyed.
when he comes for her to guess, she asks if that's his name and he gets mad and stomps on the floor yelling that the devil told her that. Well, his nobby foot gets stuck in a hole in the wood and he splits in half.

THE END

This one took a bit :D
it's a contest entry for :icongrimgloomtale:
this was really fun to do
i wanted to give it a slightly traditional feel, so i drew a lot of extra lines with the pencil tool as if i was drawing it on paper

please view in full view, it looks way better :D

Hm... Not bad but your anatomy, color, and composition skills need some work. Perhaps try having a friend pose for you in this position, or have someone take a picture of you doing it so you can see how the body works, in terms of both body and face structure. The lighting is overall very flat, but light is a hard thing to learn and will come with time and practice. I think that you could crop the image, too, to get rid of a bit of the hay on the left side. Not all of it of course, but just enough so that it doesn't look like it's just kinda hanging there as pointless filler. It harms your composition rather than helps it.

I do like how you got interesting textures on the face of the creature thing and in the hay, though.
